Summary
Mr. Ryland is a member of the firm’s Intellectual Property Litigation Team. He has experience with litigation at both the trial and appellate levels, including preparing many successful dispositive motions, securing restraining orders and other injunctive relief, conducting all phases of discovery and arguing a variety of motions. His practice also includes experience with alternative dispute resolution through
mediation and arbitration.
Mr. Ryland began his career as a law clerk to the Honorable Paul R. Matia, Chief Judge of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio. As a clerk, he assisted with numerous hearings and trials and developed an expertise in federal civil procedure and federal litigation, with a special focus on intellectual property and complex litigation matters.
In addition to his litigation experience, Mr. Ryland counsels clients on the development and enforcement of their worldwide intellectual property portfolios, focusing primarily on life science and chemical arts. His experience also includes drafting licensing, collaboration and other technology transfer agreements as well as counseling and advising clients on all issues related to the sale or purchase of intellectual property.
