Biography

Adam Claussen is an experienced Patent Agent and brings his international intellectual property experience, strong scientific background and robust IP credentials to his position, providing valuable counsel to clients on the best strategies for protecting their innovations.

He completed the Accredited Chemistry Program at Hillsdale College and received his IP Certificate while earning his J.D. from The University of Akron School of Law. He has served as a Judicial Extern for the United States Court of Federal Claims, providing research which informed the judge’s patent and copyright docket.

As a USPTO Registered Independent Patent Agent (#79,942), Adam has guided the patent strategies of several companies and routinely drafted and filed utility and design patents for mechanical and chemical inventions.

As an Intellectual Property Research Associate at The Innovation Council, Adam worked with a team based in Geneva, Switzerland. He collaborated on international research to report on IP-enabled development of Covid-19 treatments and vaccines. The findings from his research have been distributed world-wide and used by the World Intellectual Property Association, the World Trade Organization, the World Health Organization and other policy makers.

Prior to attending law school, Adam obtained valuable project management & negotiation skills as a jobsite manager for a construction firm. He also investigated quality control issues in industrial production facilities as a Lab Technician with Organic Technologies, where he led their LEAN lab redesign and created procedures for preparing anisidine reagents. His valuable, hands-on, experience informs his practical representation of his intellectual property clients.

With his combination of real-world experience, scientific acumen, research and legal expertise, Adam is well-equipped in preparing and prosecuting patents and applications and is committed to delivering excellent, client-focused work product.
