Biography

Igor Ozeruga is a registered patent attorney whose practice is devoted to patent preparation and prosecution before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. He works with clients to turn invention disclosures into enforceable patent portfolios, drafting applications and prosecuting them through allowance, and he counsels clients on how to align their filing programs with product roadmaps and competitive positioning.

Igor has drafted and prosecuted a substantial number of U.S. utility and design patent applications across a broad range of technologies, including software and computer-implemented systems, electrical and power systems, semiconductor devices, superconducting and quantum systems, sensors and optics, physiological and medical devices, and electromechanical systems. His day-to-day work includes invention disclosure interviews and technical digests, claim drafting and claim strategy, responses to office actions, examiner interviews, appeals and pre-appeal practice, and continuation, divisional, and reissue filings. Igor also handles international filings under the Patent Cooperation Treaty and U.S. national phase prosecution, coordinating with foreign associates to keep families consistent across jurisdictions.

Clients rely on Igor for the technical fluency to work directly with engineers and inventors and for a practical, prosecution-focused approach: claims drafted with an eye toward how they will be examined, and prosecution managed to reach allowance efficiently without giving up commercially meaningful scope.

Igor's engineering training informs the way he approaches every matter. He earned a B.S. in Electrical Engineering, magna cum laude, from Cleveland State University in 2011, and received his J.D. from the University of Akron School of Law in 2015. He began his career at a Cleveland intellectual property boutique, where he prepared and prosecuted patent applications for domestic and multinational clients in the semiconductor, electronics, and defense technology sectors.
