Biography

Navin focuses his work on all aspects of patent practice including preparation and prosecution of patent applications and patent opinion work. He is highly experienced in patent drafting and prosecution before the US Patent Office (USPTO), having assisted with or handled 230+ non-provisional patent applications and 200+ USPTO Office Action responses.

He is experienced in handling patent and opinion matters in the life science related arts, including biochemical engineering, biochemistry, molecular biology, organic chemistry, polymer chemistry, pharmacology, immunology, surgical devices, and inhalants.

Navin has drafted, prosecuted and counseled clients in matters related to technical topics including artificial intelligence, advanced batteries, materials science, mechanical and chemical engineering, semiconductor fabrication and processing, and computer science.

  • Navin’s extensive experience extends to matters relating to video gaming, artificial intelligence, machine learning, neural networks, MRI imaging technology, surgical devices, endoscopic LEDs, ablation tools, and optics, metallurgical engineering, iron-based amorphous-phase metal alloys, pharmaceutical and medicinal formulations, post-surgical wound operative therapeutic care, and tissue engineering.

  • He has assisted clients in obtaining IP protections related to semiconductor manufacturing and processing, optoelectronics, III-V semiconductor devices, display technology, AR/VR, optical materials (such as, liquid crystal, photopolymer, and crystal), photonic integrated circuits, and semiconductor integrated circuits, atomic layer etching, atomic layer deposition, metrology, atomic layer clean, back side deposition apparatus and applications.

  • Navin also has significant experience in matters related to drilling fluids, downhole condition assessment tools, wellbore safety, completion fluids and wellbore cleaning tools, portable electronic device security solutions, integrated circuits, cutting tools, power tools, complex mechanical machinery, such as precision rotary cutting blades, battery packs, automotive interior components, airbag inflators, rotors, impellers, turbochargers, automotive and hybrid propulsion systems, catalytic converters, fuel pumps, fuel pump modules, throttle bodies, intake manifolds, and fuel-efficient exhaust gas recirculation valves.

Navin is familiar with patent invalidity and/or unenforceability strategies, as well as ANDA/Hatch-Waxman pharmaceutical patent litigation and aBLA/BPCIA 'Patent Dance' biologics-patent procedures and/or practices and has completed multiple patent freedom-to-operate studies. He has served as Corporate Counsel for a Global Pharmaceutical Company, an experience that informs how he counsels clients on their IP strategies.

Prior to becoming an attorney, Navin worked as an Operations Technology Engineer in the Steel Producing Industry. He is the holder of two patents (10,870,023, 10,357,672).

Navin has lived in Japan, where he studied Japanese language and is conversationally fluent in Assamese.
