About Richard

Richard’s practice focuses on patent preparation, prosecution, and counseling, mainly in the mechanical and materials-related arts. Richard has handled patent matters in a wide range of technologies, including aerospace systems, hydraulics, heat exchangers, electrochemical devices, lighting, flooring, composites, and consumer products. Richard’s practice also includes pursuing and defending trademark rights and copyright protection.

Prior to entering the practice of law, Richard worked as a senior materials engineer with 10 years of experience in the fields of aerospace, automotive/racing, nuclear power and alternative energy. Richard’s specific engineering experience includes research and development of composite materials (carbon-carbon, carbon-ceramic, resin-matrix, and fiber reinforced), friction materials, nuclear reactor core materials, high-temperature superalloys, sintered-metallics, and electrochemical fuel cells.

While attending the University of Akron School of Law, Richard worked as an engineer and was assistant editor for the Law Review. Richard graduated from Akron Law summa cum laude with a certificate in intellectual property, and was the class salutatorian.
