Emily Porter, Executive Director

Emily Porter is the Executive Director of the Intellectual Property Law Firm of Renner Otto. She began her professional legal career with a small Intellectual Property law firm located in Cleveland. For eight years she directed every administrative aspect of the boutique law firm.

She joined Renner Otto as a Legal Assistant in 2018 and quickly applied her vast Intellectual Property experience and process-oriented brand of client service to assisting IP clients on a larger, global scale, advancing to Docket Administrator and Operations Coordinator before being promoted to Executive Director of Renner Otto.

As Director, Emily is responsible for the internal creation and implementation of firm procedures and processes that affect every aspect of the filing process, client communication and education. She ensures that all staff are current on Intellectual Property industry standards and best practices to create the best outcomes for our clients. She maintains the firm’s employee staffing and wellness programs, utilizing creative solutions to deliver Renner Otto clients dynamic & experienced representation.

Our dedicated IP Operations Specialists work alongside the attorneys to conduct the maintenance and operation of the IP process, conscientiously navigating documentation, filing and administrative functions, both domestically and internationally. These process-oriented, legal professionals provide high-quality, supervised preparation and management services while the attorney remains solely responsible for the legal aspects of the work.

Renner Otto clients are not charged separately for the work of our paralegal specialists. Our structure allows attorneys to focus on the legal work product in a way that is considered cost-effective to our clients while allowing our staff to focus on their detail-oriented work product.

Our IP Operations Specialists are trained in the latest IP Software, such as Anaqua®& Patsnap®, and they attend weekly process forums with industry updates. In addition to their abundance of intellectual property experience, a select number of Renner Otto’s support team members are multilingual. Several hold international legal degrees, including a J.D. in Romanian Law, a J.D. in Uruguay and a L.L.M. in European Law.
